Welcome TJ,Kindle Update Needed, Happy Birthday!

Welcome, T.J.!

We have a new director for the Adult Learning Lab, soon to be the Jones Creativity Center!  His name is T.J. DeWitt and he has been the educational director at Rocky Mount.  He's very excited about joining us here and we're excited to have him! He'll be starting in mid-April.

Kil'n Time

How many folks would be interested in killing some time at Kil'n Time during National Library Week? Let Doris know asap by emailing her at

We need at least ten people for the group discount.

Kindle Update Needed by March 22

We may start getting calls from patrons that their Kindles are not accessing ebooks.  If it is an older (2012 or earlier) Kindle and hasn't been used regularly, then it may need an update from Amazon in order for it to connect to the internet.  This means they'll have to download the update to a computer before transferring and installing the update to the Kindle.  Here's an article from CNET:

 Happy Birthday!

Ambrea (aka Amy)    March 21

What's Fun?

Welcome Back, Becky!

Becky will be rejoining us on Monday.  We've missed you, and the patrons have missed you!

What's Fun?

Doris would like some ideas about fun things to do together.  Would it be a fitness challenge? Movie night?  Crafts? A contest? Let Doris know!

So Long, Sonya!

Sonya, our part time person, is leaving us as a regular employee.  She says she has really enjoyed working here, but her full-time work and personal obligations will prevent her from continuing on a regular basis.  She will fill in for us as needed.  We will miss you, Sonya!

If anyone knows of a bright, reliable person looking for a part time job, please let them know that we have a few hours to fill and have them fill out an employment application.  Thanks!

Maverick Microfilm

We seem to be missing the Bristol Herald Courier microfilm reel for January 2006.  If anyone sees it lurking around in a dark corner or under a desk, please corner it carefully and return it to reference.  As far as we know it doesn't bite, but its time on the run may have made it a bit skittish. If you're afraid to approach it, just let Jeanne know.

December 1983 tries to make a break for it but was captured before it reached the door.
