Stormy weather!

Hope everyone came through the storm without a lot of damage! Avoca had some problems, but were still able to open.  Mr. Barry kept everyone informed on our Facebook page.

Welcome to Sarah!  She'll be our Interim Marketing Director now that Kathryn has accepted a new job. If there's something we can do to make your job easier, Sarah, just let us know.

As you may have heard-- or seen on our wonderful electronic signs!-- the library is going to be closed to the public on Sunday, May 8 and Monday, May 9.  Our servers are migrating.  All the other libraries in the system are closing as well. The computers have been set so that no items should be due those days.   There are several meetings for that day and those will take place as scheduled, such as the Bristol Historical Association's regular meeting. If you have any questions, check with your supervisor.

Rebecca has a new addition!  Her name is Fluffer for the moment, but that's subject to change.
Remember to checkout the library Bookblog to see what we've been reading!  We'd love to have other staff members contribute as well.  Jeanne will be glad to help.

Last but not least, you can start your Mother's Day shopping in the library Gift Shop.  Janice has a lovely assortment of items.  There are even a few plants left!

Thanks, Bidding a sad goodbye, and Save a Plant

It was great to see so many folk at the luncheon with Dorthea Benton Frank! The food was lovely and the company more so. Everybody loves the t-shirts, too!  DBF was as charming as her characters.  It was a pleasure to make her acquaintance.   Thanks to Anita, Kathryn, Beth from  CJ and Company and everyone else involved in making this such an enjoyable event.

In case you haven't heard, Kathryn has a new position at Wellmont.  She's done a wonderful job for us. We'll miss her, but wish her all the best.  Visit often, Kathryn!

Save a Plant!!
If saving the planet is a bit too much to undertake, you can save a plant instead!  Janice H. says she has a green thumb. I didn't disagree, but I did wonder if she might be a bit colorblind. Green?  Um... purple, maybe, about like mine.  Anyway, Janice has these poor defenseless plants in the Gift Shop. For a mere pittance, you can liberate these hostas--er, hostages-- and give them the safe and loving home they deserve.  They'd make a great feel-good  Mother's Day gift!  (PS Don't mention this post to Janice.  Thanks.)

"Big Tom has nothing on us!  We survived Janice!"

BPL goes to the dogs and Spring Tea!

BPL has had some wonderful visitors lately. Here's photographic proof our staff is owned by some of the most adorable canines ever!  (And we know there are others:  we're just waiting for them to drop by and be photographed too!)

The Empress in Training, Allie, just celebrated a birthday! Mom Debbie commemorated the occasion with a Royal Portrait.  If you haven't had the pleasure, Allie is even more gorgeous in person.  She hasn't perfected the Royal Wave yet, but she gives kisses!

Darlene & Art in Security had two of their babies visit:  Dillon & Bella!
Dillon helps take care of Bella and he does a very good job!

Spring Tea Tickets
If someone asks about the Imagination Library Spring Tea, tickets are for sale in the Children's Department.  Adult tickets are $20 and children's tickets are $10.  This event will be at the Southeast Culinary & Hospitality College on Sunday, May 1 starting at 1:30 pm.  This is not a BPL event, but we're happy to support the Imagination Library!

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Wallace Coffey of the Bristol Bird Club did a wonderful presentation on birds, from identifying to feeding!  He even had photos of a white robin that has been seen in this area.

I hope everyone saw the article about the Cake Boss in the Bristol Herald Courier!  Just in case you didn't, here is a link:
