Condolences, Reminders

Condolences to Selena
For those of you who haven't heard, Selena's brother passed away over Thanksgiving weekend.  You can read the obituary and post messages here.

Notes for Cleaning Crew
Kathy appreciates the notes left for the cleaning crew, but it would help if staff would date and sign the note. This will help her to determine if the problem has been resolved.  Thank you!

Christmas Party

Remember that the staff Christmas Party is this Saturday, December 3, starting at 5 pm.  The location is Amy's new house! Avoca folk, Christy has the address if you need it. There is a report that Don was spotted buying a utensil to make his promised peanut butter balls-- yum!

Christmas Party, Questionnaires, Happy Birthday to Karen!

Christmas Party

This year's staff Christmas Party will be at Amy's house! Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 3, starting around 5 pm. The library will provide turkey and ham, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, and meatballs.

There's a list posted in the Staff Lounge so folks can add what goodies they are bringing.  Avoca staffers can call us and leave a message or tell Christy.  If asked nicely, Jeanne will NOT cook anything.

Hope to see everyone there!

Questionnaires
Remember, November 18 is the deadline to turn in your questionnaires to Amy!

READS, Tumblebooks, more

READS
If you haven't visited the site recently, it might behoove you to take a look.  There have been a number of changes, with the goal of making the site more user-friendly. The link is here.

Also, note that magazines have been dropped from READS, but please direct patrons to FindItVirginia, where Zinio offers many popular magazines. It's easy to use and there's a very good selection of magazine!  Check it all out at http://www.finditva.com/.

Tumblebooks
Yes, the link is gone at the at our website, but Tumblebooks is still available!  Again, go to FindItVirginia and click on eBooks.  There will be a new link up soon.  Please let patrons know.

Kil'n Time
Thanks to all who turned out!  Everyone seemed to have a great time and I'm really looking forward to seeing what the finished products look like.  I have high hopes for mine.  (But then, I always do....)  The only problem is that my car still smells of pizza.

Rita was kind enough to share some photos she took!
Note how intent everyone is!

Brenda's snowman is looking very festive!

Clancy went in for earth tones.

Kristin and Jeanne are painting cats.  What are the odds?

William Fairchild
For those who haven't heard, Mr. Fairchild passed away.  He was a faithful patron and we will miss him.  You can read the obituary here.

Condolences to Meygan

Condolences to Meygan
Most of us remember Meygan, who worked in Reference until she found an job opportunity to fit her degree.  Meygan lost her beloved grandmother this week. The obituary is here. Our sincere sympathy goes out to her and her family.  I'm sure prayers would be appreciated.

Kil'n Time Reminder
Those who are interested will gather at Kil'n Time on Friday.  Most people seem to plan on showing up around 3ish.  They now have in a nice selection of Christmas decorations including ornaments, elf statues, trees (some of which you can add lights to for an even more festive appearance), and such.  There's also the usual assortment of bottles, vases, mugs, plates, banks, and statues.

Bring you own drink and we'll have pizza after most have arrived!

Thanks, DST Ends, Kil'n Time, and More

Kitchen Witches
Thanks to Candess and Brenda G. for tackling clean-up after our Fall Feast. They have been given tokens of appreciation. We appreciate you!

Last of the October Birthdays!

Kil'n Time Update

I'll be posting a list on the Employee Bulletin Board of those who have told me they are coming along with a list of "maybe coming." We should have enough already to hit the $5 firing fee, based on the number of probable attendees and guests.  If the "maybes" come as well, then we'll have hit the 20 people, 15% off level!

Best guess at arrival time is appreciated, so we'll have an idea of when to have pizza. Remember to bring your own drink! From what I've heard so far, most plan to be there around 3:30.  If you want to come earlier to have more time to paint, that's fine, or if you can't come until later, that's fine too.

Fall Back!
Yep, it's time to fall back to Eastern Standard Time this Sunday.  Set your clocks back an hour. Or, in Jeanne's case, try to set the cats back an hour.
