National Library Week!

 National Library Week Events

April 12-18 is National Library Week, and we have some events to celebrate!  Also, if you want to wear library or book themed shirts this week, that would be great.For some of us, it's a great opportunity to get another wear or two out of some of the Summer Reading Program shirts. For Doris, it'll be a great opportunity to get publicity shots!

Staff Luncheon

On Tuesday, April 14, the Board of Trustees will provide a luncheon for Staff to show their appreciation for all our hard work and dedication. The luncheon will be in the Staff Lounge starting at noon; those who work evening shift can get a plate to save for their supper. C.J. and Company will be catering.

Main:

Sunday, April 12: 

• The winners of the “Every Week is Library Week at the BPL” poster contest will be announced at 2 pm in the lower court area of the bottom floor of the main library. 
• Bristol League of Board Gamers will meet at 2 pm in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room

Monday, April 13: 

• READs: There will be three sessions on using e-readers and other tech devised to read books. Session One is 10:30 am until noon. Session Two is 2 pm until 3:30 pm, and Session Three will be 6 pm until 7:30 pm. All sessions will be held in the Frances E. Kegley Conference Room of the Main Library at 701 Goode Street, Bristol, VA.  The sessions will be taught by Amy Kimani, assistant Director of the Holston River Regional Library and they are free. Please bring your devices with you to the session of your choice.
• The Bristol Historical Association will present storyteller Anndrena Belcher at 6:30 pm in the J.Henry Kegley Meeting Room

Tuesday, April 14: 

•  Dollywood’s Penguin Players acting troupe will perform in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room at 10 am. The Penguin Players are renowned for their humorous and educational shows based on popular children’s stories.

• Board of Trustees meet at 4:30 pm in the J.Henry Kegley Meeting Room 

Avoca Branch Library:

April 13-17:

•  Book Sale!  Books will be for sale during the regular hours of the Avoca Branch. Monday – Thursday, 10 am  until 7 pm. Friday, 10 am until 5 pm. Saturday, 9 am until 5 pm.

April 17: Dollywood’s Penguin Players will perform at 10:30 am.
