Community History Day, City Christmas Dinner, Sign Language at Avoca, Bristol Ballet, & Get Well

Bristol Ballet

The Bristol Ballet will be at the library on November 9 at noon in the Children's Department to perform a short selection.  This is after the Veterans Day parade (which is scheduled 10-11:30 am) on State Street. (BTW, the FB link to the parade says that it is on Saturday, November 10.)

Community History Day
 From Believe in Bristol:
Black in Appalachia in partnership with the YWCA Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia and Bristol Public Library invite you and your family to share documents, photos, films, and recollections of Bristol & Sullivan County's African-American community.
We will also be recording oral histories, so come prepared with your family's story!
Any and all materials are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
Physical documents and photos will be digitized and returned to you the same day with your own digital copy of your items.
For more information, contact:
Tina McDaniel, TMcDaniel@ywcatnva.org | 423-573-6107 or
William Isom, wisom@easttennesseepbs.org | 423-277-7162

(Note:  a post had this event as occurring here, but is at the Slater Center.)

Sign Language Classes@ Avoca
Avoca will be offering both "Mommy and Me" Sign Language classes.  It's $10 per family and registration is required.  Classes will be on Saturdays from 10:30-11:00 am.  Classes start November 9.

There will also be an adult Sign Language class beginning November 14 at 4 pm.  It's $10 per person and $15 per family.

Christmas Dinner

This year's City of Bristol Christmas Dinner for employees will be on Friday, December 6  starting at 11:30 am.  We have to let the organizers know how many from the library will be attending, so if you want to attend tell Brenda D. before Friday, Nov. 8.  If you are scheduled to work that day, please check with supervisors first.

Get Well, Joan
Joan is still hobbling a bit but says she is doing well.  She's a trooper, our Joan!
