Updated, Storytelling, Condolences

Are You Up To Date?
Just in case anyone has changed addresses and has failed to fill out a Personal Data Change Form with City Hall, that needs to be done by TODAY.  This is for W-2 and ACA purposes. Sorry for the short notice, but the information just came to me this morning.  Brenda thinks everyone is up to date, so this is just to be sure.

And you have updated your contact information with Amy, right?

Beaver Creek Storytellers  Sunday 3 PM
The Beaver Creek Storytellers will be here this Sunday, January 8, for their annual selection of Old Christmas tales!  This should be a fun event.  There is a $5 charge.  The program starts at 3 PM and will run until about 4:30 PM.

Condolences
Judy M. lost her brother in law suddenly this week. Visitation will be on Saturday and the funeral will be on Sunday. The obituary is here.

Thanks!
Clancy brought a wonderful strawberry pie to work.  It lasted maybe 15 minutes.  It was delicious, Clancy!

The Kitchen Witch informs me that Kristin cleaned the microwave and that Candess has been doing a lot of clean-up, so there are small tokens of appreciation for them.  By the way, the Kitchen Witch is hanging out at my cubicle if anyone wants to say "hi" and/or offer bribes.

Happy New Year!

Updating Contact Numbers
Winter is upon us, and that means the chance of bad weather affecting schedules.  Check with Amy to be sure that she has your correct contact information, just in case!

Be careful, have fun, and enjoy your New Year!

Thanks, JCC, birthdays, phone numbers and Merry Christmas!

Thanks!
We have been royally treated this holiday season with many goodies from our patrons and friends.  A special "Thank you!" to Carl and Sarah Williams for the cookies, nuts, and cocoa.  The cranberry- pecan bread drew raves, so thanks to whoever brought that!  THANKS!

I don't know about anyone else, but my number one New Year's Resolution is going to be DIET.

Phone Numbers

Please, please, check with Amy to see if she has your correct cell phone or other contact numbers.  Today is the first day of winter, after all, and who knows what bad weather may await?  She will need to be in touch in case of schedule changes or other emergencies.  Thanks!!

Jones Creativity Center
Starting in January, the JCC will be offering some regular classes. This means there will be times when they cannot offer one on one help to patrons.  Please consult the JCC calendar before you send people back there.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree!

 Parade of Christmas Trees

Michelle was delighted with the entries for this year's Parade of Christmas Trees!  She wanted to extend special thanks to all the staff members who took the time to participate. There were some really wonderful trees this year.  Here are a few, but photos do not do them justice.  You need to take a peek at them in person.

Kristin's tree for The Fire Cat...

...features Pickles sliding down the pole! (It also has red lights.)

Christy H. made a Ramona tree!  Of course Ramona is the star.

A purple tree... yoyos... who could have made this one??

Kim did a Polar Express tree!

Perfectly lovely tree from Avoca celebrating The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree!

The pig and the web should give away the identity of this book!

Ashley really likes Duncan and Delores and we really like this tree!

The winning tree was done by a patron for the book The Gruffalo!

Avoca Newsletter
In case you haven't taken a look at Avoca's calendar, pick up a copy and check out the newsletter! In addition to more details about Avoca events, there's a review from Ruth of the Avoca Friends!

Christmas Book Blurbs
Thanks to Rita and Kristin who have sent brief suggestions for newer Christmas books to read!  If anyone else has suggestions, please get them to Jeanne before noon on Friday so they can be posted early next week.  Thanks!

Party Time! Christmas Trees! Happy Birthday!

Christmas Party 2016!

Thanks to all who came out and especially to those who brought food!  There were more people there than the pictures show because the photographer was so busy stuffing her face that she forgot to take more photos. Sorry, T.J., Christy, Ian, Brenda, and anyone else I missed.  The food was just TOO good and TOO distracting! Special thanks to Amy for letting us all invade her house!

Parade of Christmas Trees

Remember to hand in your entry for the Parade of Christmas Trees in the Children's Department!  On, December 13, there will be a special viewing and people can vote for the People's Choice award tree!

Happy Birthday!

Kil'n Time, Newsletters, and More

Kudos to Don!
Imagine Don's surprise when he learned on Monday that he was now doing the calendar and Bookends newsletter-- and it was only two days until the first of the month.  He rose to the occasion and has done a splendid job!  Take a bow, Don!

Avoca Launches Newsletter!
The Avoca Branch Library is going to do their own newsletter!  We're sure they'll share some copies with us so we can help them spread the word about all the wonderful things they do.

 Christmas Book Suggestions!
We'd like to do a blog post with suggestions for books to read for the season.  We've done a lot of Christmas classics, such as A Christmas Carol, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, etc., so we'd like some newer books that patrons may not have encountered.  Please give your suggestions to Jeanne for inclusion in the blog.  If you'd like to write up a little description, that would be fabulous!  If not, then Jeanne will make something up.

Kil'n Time Art
Folks did a great job with their Kil'n time pieces.  Here are some examples:
Ambrea's Christmas Tree

Artwork from the Selfs and Brenda's snowman
Kristin's kitties & Anna's mug!

Jeanne's.  What are the odds?
These are the ones that were available when Jeanne was there with her camera.  We'd love to see others!  Either send a photo or let Jeanne take a photo of the objetd d'art.  Thanks!

 Happy Birthday
