Programming Information, Happy Birthday

Programming Information

Thanks to Kayla, we now have a monthly list of programs at the library with appropriate information about contacts, registration, etc.  There should be a copy at both Reference and Circulation, and Kayla will be glad to share with any other department that feels the need to have extra information. For example, on December 10 there will be a Christmas craft.  From Kayla's description:

December 10th, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Creative Craft: Book Page Christmas Tree – Easy to make, simple tabletop decoration made using paper cut from old, unusable books. No paper folding. Registration is appreciated, contact Kayla by phone or email.

Happy Birthday!

Refrigerator, Director Search

According to Sandra Boynton, we have missed this landmark holiday.  However, being the party people we are, we are NOT going to let a holiday go by!  Besides, Thanksgiving is coming up and it seems sometimes that refrigerators are the place that leftovers go to die, so we need to make room.  On Wednesday, November 20, we will be tossing anything that is not labeled and/or properly dated.

Director Search
As most of you already know, we will be doing the first round of interviews on Monday, November 25.  There are three candidates.  For each candidate, time has been allotted for staff questions:

1:30-2:30 pm
2:30-3:30 pm
3:35-4:35 pm

Please be thinking of things that you would like to ask.  We do have some suggested questions, but we're sure you have plenty of your own! Please check with supervisors so that we can still have the library fully operational while all this is going on.

We will also be recording oral histories, so come prepared with your family's story!
Any and all materials are welcome. Refreshments will be provided.
Physical documents and photos will be digitized and returned to you the same day with your own digital copy of your items.
For more information, contact:

Sign Language Classes@ Avoca
Avoca will be offering both "Mommy and Me" Sign Language classes.  It's $10 per family and registration is required.  Classes will be on Saturdays from 10:30-11:00 am.  Classes start November 9.

There will also be an adult Sign Language class beginning November 14 at 4 pm.  It's $10 per person and $15 per family.

Christmas Dinner

This year's City of Bristol Christmas Dinner for employees will be on Friday, December 6  starting at 11:30 am.  We have to let the organizers know how many from the library will be attending, so if you want to attend tell Brenda D. before Friday, Nov. 8.  If you are scheduled to work that day, please check with supervisors first.

Get Well, Joan
Joan is still hobbling a bit but says she is doing well.  She's a trooper, our Joan!

Fall Feast, Halloween, and Raspberry Pi!

Fall Feast!

 Tuesday, October 8 Noon

Most folks are looking forward to the cooler temps predicted for next week, so we thought we would celebrate with a Fall Feast!  We'll have traditional Appalachian food. The library will supply soup beans and cornbread. Feel free to bring whatever side dishes you would like.

Happy (Early) Halloween!

Michelle will be having the Children's Halloween party on Thursday, October 17, to avoid conflicts with the various school celebrations. The party will be from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, and staff are welcome to come in costume.

Raspberry Pi
Due to popular request, the JCC will be having an introduction to Raspberry Pi class on October 9 from 2-3 pm. This would count as Continuing Education for interested staff members.  Be sure to check with your supervisors if you would like to attend.
