HR has let us know that new insurance cards will be sent out in April due to a system update.  When your new card arrives, please discard the old one at once.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to Pi Day!  We have amazing cooks here who are generous with both time and talent.  I think I can safely say that we all appreciate it very much.

Also, I would like to thank everyone, especially Rebecca and Laura, for remembering Nuit.  I am most grateful to work with such caring people.

IRS Appointments

FYI:  At long last, we are getting some use of the IRS connection!  The Cardiovascular Room has a special hook-up with the IRS where those who have an appointment can speak with a representative.  At this time, the room is only being booked on Thursdays and Fridays, but that may change.  Appointments are made through the IRS.  In theory, they will send us an email the morning of the appointment and TJ, Ambrea, or reference can set up the equipment.

BPL is happy to welcome Lauren to the Technical Services Department! She has a wealth of experience already.  She's originally from Nichols, SC, about an hour away from Myrtle Beach. She's been a bit overwhelmed with all the new faces, but she's working on that!

Tax News Update!

Tax News

We have received an email stating that a package is scheduled to be delivered to us on the15th, but that it has not yet shipped.  Cross fingers that it arrives on time, but make no promises! One notification says "I 1040"  and the other says "K 1040." We hope that means at least one of these is the instructions!

We will be putting them as soon as possible after arrival.

Also, it appears that tax help will be available starting February 2.  The hours are the traditional ones:  Tuesdays from 5- 7:30 pm and Saturdays from 10 am-2 pm.  People Inc. will be supplying the volunteers again.  For more information, call 276-619-2235.

Tech Services Position

We start the new year with a job opening in Tech Services.  The notice has been posted on Facebook and on our website already.  Here is a link to the job description:

Income Tax Information

As of yet, we have not been told when we will receive the forms. They were ordered in November, but no shipping dates were given.  There is no 1040EZ or 1040A form this year, just a 1040.  The form is available on the irs.gov website but as of yet there is no dated listed as to when the IRS will start accepting returns.  We do not have a starting date for the tax help.

Text Notification

We have had several reports that patrons are not receiving text notifications of holds or other information.  Should someone call and report they are not receiving alerts, take down the usual information (name, number, etc.) but also please ask which phone carrier they are using.  Most of the reported problems so far are with T-Mobile, but there may be others.

Becky Wilkerson

We are sad to report that long time volunteer Becky Wilkerson lost her husband this week.  The obituary is here.

Here's wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year!  Amy will be out of the office most of the week but she will be only a phone call away should the need arise.

We will also have some seasonal help in the form of Anna Pearson and Amy Steadman. 

And remember-- we will be closed on New Year's Eve!
