United Way

  United Way will be here  on Wednesday, Oct. 3, for a  presentation to the staff. There will be two sessions of 30 min. each—11:00 and 11:30—so everybody who’s here will have a chance to attend.  Be sure to let your supervisors know which session you wish to attend.  If you aren't scheduled to work that day, don't make a special trip in unless you wish to.

 Flu Shots

If you missed the first round of inoculations,  you have another chance on  Friday, October 5, from 8:00 am-12:00 pm.  This year they will also be offering an optional TDAP vaccination (Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis) but if you want to get that one you will need to fill out a consent form and take a copy of your health insurance card the day of the shot.  The form is posted on the bulletin board near the staff entrance so that you can make a copy for yourself if you wish to get the additional shot.

Welcome Back, Lee!

Lee's wife is doing much better now, so he's back walking the security beat.  You were missed, Lee, and we're glad to have you back.  Thanks to Tom and Richard for helping to hold down the fort. 

Chrissie Anderson Peters will be here Thursday night to do a program on self-publishing.  The program will start at 6:30.  Sure, Bill Cosby's in Abingdon that night, but tickets for that are-- well, um, not cheap. Chrissie is free and she's bringing refreshments to boot! Seriously, it should be a good program.

For Pete's Sake Animal Rescue Fund Raiser

As you may know, Kay works with a local animal rescue.  If you're in the mood to eat out Thursday night, try the Pizza Hut at Linden Drive.  From 5-8 pm, they'll donate a portion of each buffet dinner to For Pete's Sake Animal Rescue.  You'll get food and help pets at the same time!
