Staff notes, Avoca celebrates, and LAB is ALL

Intruder Alert?
If you're going to be in the building past closing time-- even if it's just five or ten minutes-- sign the white board at the staff entrance BEFORE the library closes. That's the purpose of the board. This is to let security know not to set the alarm.  It is the guard's responsibility to check, but sometimes they miss someone-- as has happened more than once lately.  If you're in the middle of a task that may take last just a little past closing, take a moment to let the guard know via radio as a precaution. Also, the guard has to check the doors, even if a staff member says they're locked. He's not doubting your word, just doing his duty.

LAB now ALL
The Patricia Freedman Literacy Academy of Bristol is now the Adult Learning Lab, which better reflects the work that Karen, Linda, Randall, and Ron are doing. They have a brand new logo, too:

Message from Jud:
"Thanks to all who took time to come to the United Way presentation. If you did not receive a pledge form, Brenda will distribute them with the next payroll. Please return all forms to her (along with any contributions, if you choose to do that instead of pledge). It’d be great if everyone gave something, no matter how small, and if everyone would at least consider a “fair share” donation."

Avoca in October
Avoca is preparing for a busy October!  There is a three-day book sale starting October 11 where you can pick up bargains galore, then the next weekend is the Fall Festival!  The latter will feature door prizes, a rummage sale, and-- best of all!--an old-fashioned cake walk. The festival will be held Friday and Saturday, October 19 & 20.  Be sure to pass the word to anyone who might be interested!

Happy Birthday!

Susan Wolfe  October 14
