In Honor of Anita & Sarah
The library will be hosting a luncheon in honor of Anita and Sarah, in appreciation of all their efforts on behalf of the library.  The event will be at noon on Friday, June 28, in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room. This is our chance to say "Thanks!" Please let Brenda know if you wish to attend.

Dental Plan ALERT!
From City Hall:  City Council  has elected to continue our current dental plan for one year.  This is available to all employees at their costs, but allows employees who have dental coverage only, a transitional period to find other coverage if they so choose. The memo reads as follows:

"The previous memo that was sent to all participants in the Dental Assistance Plan has been recinded.  City Council has elected to continue the Dental Assistance Plan for all eligible City employees for a period of one year ending June 30, 2014.

To insure that the Plan remains self-sufficient to cover claims and administrative expenses, there will be an increase in the rates effective July 1, 2013.  The new rates will be as follows:

Single:       $18 per month
Single +1   $30 per month
Family       $42 per month

NOTE:  Employees must participate for dependents to be eligible.

The Dental Assistance Plan is a supplemental plan in which the City will no longer contribute to the cost of the premiums. If you so desire, the premiums can be considered pre-taxed.

City employees who wish to remain in the plan will need to complete the... enrollment form and return it to the Comptroller's office by June 24, 2013.  Employees who do not enroll in the plan will be removed effective June 30, 2013.

We trust that this extension will allow all participants a transitional period to make arrangements for other coverage as they so choose.

Should you have questions regarding this notice, please contact (the City Clerk/Comptroller) office."

Our intrepid Nancy called for clarification and was told this is for employees who are not choosing to go with the new health plan but did want to retain dental insurance.

The Importance of Reading
Lois Winston's blog has a nice collection of quotations about the importance of reading.  You can read the entries here.
