Baby, it's cold outside. . .

. . . so it seems a good time to remind everyone of the library's inclement weather policy:

"Emergency library closings may be authorized by the Director.  Staff members will be notified by their department heads by telephone if they do not have to report to work that day.  They will be paid for the number of hours normally scheduled to work.
When the library is open, but extreme weather conditions make it impossible for a staff member to arrive at the regular time, reasonable allowance for lateness will be made.  If the employee cannot report for work within a reasonable time, they may charge the day off to vacation leave or leave without pay.  The library should, of course, be notified as soon as possible.
If an emergency occurs during hours the library is open, the Director, or, in the absence of the Director, the person in charge may authorize closing.  Employees will be paid for any remaining hours scheduled.
When the library is closed for weather or other emergencies, compensatory time off is not allowed for those on day off or on vacation."

 Upcoming Events
People Inc. will be hosting a Credit Counseling Workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 10, starting at 9:30 am.  Registration is required, but folks must register with People Inc. The website to register is www.peopleinc.eventbrite.com.

The next Genealogy Workshop will be on January 28 at 2:30 pm.  No registration is required.

As of yet, we don't have a firm start date for the tax help. We think they will start around the first of February.  We're also waiting for confirmation on days and times, but are working on the assumption that it will the same as in years past:  Saturdays from 10 am until 2 pm, Tuesday evenings from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm.  We'll update you as soon as we know anything.
  Staff Stuff
Get well wishes to Brenda's Harry!  With Harry's back, Brenda's arm and Doris' knee, we're thinking of asking for group rates at the rehab center!

Be sure and check the bulletin board near the staff entrance for a note from Joan.

Have you wondered what the top book reserves are?  That's the subject of a recent post at the the library's bookblog! Click here to read the most recent posts.

Thank You!
The start of a new year is also a time to remember and thank those who have helped us along the way.  This week we'd like to thank the wonderful volunteers from The Blue Stocking Club who have been diligently shelf-reading for us.  This makes life SO much easier for anyone who ever needs to locate a book. We're very lucky to have these ladies helping us out! Thank you!

Gena's Luna stopped by to visit! What a pretty girl!
