Family Race Night & Rhythm & Roots Reunion News!

As most know, we will be having Plaza and Gallery events on Thursday for Food City Family Race Night.  Janice will be selling merchandise on the Plaza, Michelle will be having marble races, and at least one local author will be here to sign books.  Coffee and cookies will be served in the Fleenor Art Gallery.  Events will start at 1 pm and run until about 6 pm, though the coffee and cookies may close a bit early depending on how much traffic we get and how well the cookies hold out.  If Jeanne is working the table, odds are cookies won't last long.

From Jud:
"We will be closed to the public again this year for Rhythm and Roots (September 14, 15, 16).

If anyone asks, we don’t really have a  choice because the library straddles the ticket control line. Somebody could come into the library through our “church side” entrance, exit through the Piedmont door, and be inside the event—without a ticket.

Staff can still work here, particularly Friday, September 14, so everyone can get in their hours."

We may be having some events on the Plaza during R&RR, but that's still under consideration.  Also, we don't know if we'll be getting free tickets this year or not.  You may want to keep in mind that right now three day tickets are $40; on September 1, they go up to $50 and will be $60 at the gate.
