Literacy Academy hits the big time, Party on the Plaza, and Lemonade!

The Patricia Freedman Literacy Academy has earned the notice of none other than Library Journal! They have a wonderful article about the good work done by LAB and the challenges that lie ahead for it and for libraries in general. You can read the article here.

The Party on the Plaza (Plazaarty!) is coming together nicely.  Several local authors have expressed an interest in signing books, including Chuck Thompson, Ben Talley, and Joyce Kistner.  Let's all hope for good weather, both for our activities and for all those who'll be here for the music.

We'll have "Don't make me SHHHH you" shirts for sale as well as T-shirts promoting Jud's blognovel (curious?  Google "Banshee 3:33"), coffee cups, books and other goodies.

Remember to wear your "Don't make me SHHHH you!" shirts on Saturday-- or, if you won't be here that day, then wear them on Friday to boost awareness.  Thanks!

The Saturday, August 4 edition of the Bristol Herald Courier had a couple of great photos from the lemonade sale! If you missed it, the book club for 8-10 year olds set up a lemonade stand in honor of the book they'd just finished reading.  Of course, Anita was one of the first customers! You can see more photos on the library's facebook page.

Thanks to Doris for the fabulous Chocolate Covered Strawberries Cake!  She made it in honor of our slew of August birthdays, which brings up:

"It's Brenda's birthday!  Let's play in a big puddle!!"
Happy Birthday!
