Beach Day, Melba, and More

As you may know, Janice H. has a giveaway for an "Instant Beach Vacation Bag" at the Gift Shop.  The drawing will be on July 1.  In order to get everyone in the spirit, we'll have a Beach Day here at the library that day. Wear work suitable beach attire if you wish.

There are Kool-Aid popsicles in the freezer and we have plastic leis for those who wish to be a bit more festive.

Melba

Melba's surgery is today.  I'm sure she will appreciate any prayers.  Marva is going to update Joyce and Joyce will pass the word on.

Melba Update:  Joyce reports that Melba is out of surgery and doing well.

From Joyce
I want to thank everyone for the support on getting Sissy spayed. Marva is so happy she has a pet of her own!!!. I could see the love that Marva and Melba had for Sissy and the love Sissy had for them. When it comes to helping library staff is the best!!!
I am going to take the kitty for kitty down. I got a total of 180.00 dollars. That is great!! I am making my donation be the rest of the cost of getting Sissy spayed. I will try to bring Sissy by when she get her stiches out Thursday the 2nd since we are closed Friday 3rd.
If anyone has any question please call or text me at 276-696-2667.
Thanks again for all of your support!

Thanks,
Joyce

Job Openings

We do post City of Bristol job openings on the employee bulletin board.  For example, there is now a Office Manager opening in the police department.  Please take a moment to look at what's available and pass the word on to anyone you think might be interested. We all know folks who are looking for work.

Don's a Notary!

Don is now a notary, so we have another option for patrons needing that service.  Yay, Don!

Meet Sissy Woodby, ALL schedule, and more!

Meet Sissy Woodby!
This charming little girl is Sissy Woodby, the newest addition to the Peters-Woodby household.  Joyce reports that both Melba and Marva are mad about the girl.  Joyce generously offered to take Sissy for her spay, both picking her up and then returning her.  She will also take Sissy back to have stitches removed and hopes to bring her by for a staff meet and greet.  Joyce has taken this upon herself as a way of offering Melba some help and support.  If anyone would like to defray the costs of the spay and care, there is a container for donations in the staff lounge or you can give money to Joyce.

There are more photos but Blogger doesn't wish me to share.

Adult Learning Lab
The Adult Learning Lab will be holding Job Readiness Training  from 10 am until 2 pm next week (June 29-July 2) for Job Readiness Training. They will be open to the public from 2 pm until 6 pm.

Also, the ALL will be closed the week following, July 6-10.

Thanks from Tennshare!

"Dear Brenda and Bristol Public Library Staff:

Tenn-Share is immensely thankful to Bristol Public Library for becoming a hub for the Firefly Courier Service in October 2013.  With your library giving the RR Donnelley subcontractor a space to collect and separate packages to and from East Tennessee, the courier's delivery times improved dramatically.  We are so appreciative, not just of your space, but of the offer that extended to your library and staff.  Thanks to you, your region and the state's libraries had much better service through June 2015.

The new contractor, Expak Logistics, will not need to use the Bristol Public Library space for the new contract beginning in July 2015.  We hope that this new arrangement gives you great service also.  I'm sure you will put the released space to good use.

Sincerely,

Jenifer Grady

Tenn-Share Executive Director"

Happy Birthday!

We also may have the Beaver Creek Storytellers here on Sunday at 2:00 PM in the lower court area of the ground floor. That will make it noisy but I had to move them out of the large meeting room due to the film festival expanding their programming. Beaver Creek may decide to move their program to Blackbird.

If you have any questions you can go to http://www.pushfilm.org/ for more on the festival or call me.

It's Aunt Susie!
Congratulations to Susie on her brand new niece, Elizabeth Carol.  She's got pictures, too!

Thanks, Sirsi Tips, Holston IT, ALL, and HRH Princess Allie

THANKS!
A big thank you to all our staff for all your hard work, patience, and perseverance during our transition. You've handled some very difficult situations with grace and managed to keep smiling.  Thank you.  It has been noticed and is appreciated.

 Sirsi Tips
  • First of all, the log-in on our website (www.bristol-library.org) now does go to Sirsi instead of Sierra.  YAY!!
  • If you are trying to search for Large Print books, put in "Large Type" as a search term.  "Large Type" is used in the subject headings while "Large Print" is not.  This will make life much easier
  • IT Troubles: most of you know that there is a desktop icon to report problems to Holston IT.  When you fill out a request, please include an email or cell phone number.  The form doesn't ask for it, but Andy says it will really speed up response time, especially on the weekends.
Thanks, Debbie!
As has become tradition, Debbie brought US the cake on HER birthday!  Belated thanks and happy birthday wishes to her.
"Let them eat kibble." Her Royal Highness, Princess Allie

ALL Schedule
The Adult Learning Lab will be doing career training in the mornings next week, June 1-5.  This means the ALL will not be available to the general public until it reopens at 2 pm.
