Two items from Jud:
1. United Way: thanks to everyone who came to hear Lisa Cofer. If you didn’t get a pledge form, please see me. Please consider a “fair share” pledge. It’s the equivalent of one hour’s pay per month. And if you’re math- challenged, you don’t even have to figure it out! Just check the box and Personnel will handle the rest. Please leave the white and yellow forms in Brenda’s box or give them to me.
2. The 2012 Holiday Calendar is now on the Common Data drive. If you don’t know where that is, hey, what do you think the Reference Dept. is for? (From Reference: we will be glad to find it for you. Please note that we do accept bribes of chocolate.)
The Avoca Friends honored Susan Wolfe as the new Branch Manager at their November luncheon and reported on their very successful book sale.
Recent library school grad Gena has been helping out at Reference! Right now she's compiling a handy guide to using the Nook and a bibliography of Steampunk fiction. Gena has also contributed two reviews to the Bookblog, including one about Audrey Niffenegger's graphic novel, The Night Bookmobile. Actually, it's two reviews, Jeanne and Gena. If you'd like to read it, click here.
Charlotte, another of our wonderful volunteers has set up a pre-Thanksgiving display in the new book section. My favorite part has a collection of aprons and cards with stories about aprons and memories of aprons. It's very creative and nostalgic.By all means, come down and take a look!
There will be two authors signing books this weekend at the library. On Saturday, Chuck Thompson will be signing in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room starting at 2 pm; Joyce Kistner will be signing copies of her children's book in the same room on Sunday, starting at 2:30.
Brenda's latest surgery went well and she actually made it in to work for a few hours on Wednesday! She says she's able to see a few shapes out of that eye. She hopes to be back next week. We miss you, Brenda!
Wanda sends word that she appreciates the cards, love and prayers! She hopes to drop in occasionally. Janice has reserved a seat at the card table for her.
Happy Birthday!
