Do be aware that there will be several things going on that day: in addition to the Mary Kay Andrews event, Susan Wolfe will conducting a Genealogy Workshop at 10 am and then a Foundation Directory Workshop at 1:30 pm. We're keeping a list of attendees at Reference. There's no charge for these workshops, but folks do need to pre- register because of the limited number of computers in the lab.
Also, the downtown Bristol Veterans Day Parade will start at 10:00 am on Saturday. There will be services at the Cumberland Square Park after the parade.
Remember the old song on Hee Haw that had the line "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck a'tall"? Well, that about sums up the situation for Brenda and her eye. She has to go back for what we hope will be the last surgery on Thursday. Prayers and good thoughts will be appreciated.
One more story from Pam's great Halloween adventure: one of her charges left the haunted house at a run, headed down the street. Pam called for him to stop, but he answered, "I'm runnin' to the library, Ms. Neal! I'm runnin' to the library for safety! There's safety in the books!"
That's our kind of kid!
While it isn't quite Christmas yet, it is time to start gathering "Holiday Cards for Heroes" to be sent to our troops around the world. Folks are to bring a signed card in to the library. The cards do not need to be in envelopes. We collect them and will give them to the Red Cross to send out. If anyone has questions, Sarah has distributed an information sheet at several locations in the library, including Circulation and Reference. The deadline is December 2.
Remember, the time changes this weekend! We will fall back an hour on Sunday.
