Party Time!

From Jud:   "Now that the holidays are upon us, I need a count of how many people want to attend the City of Bristol, VA, staff Christmas party on the evening of Friday,  Dec. 9. All library employees and one guest are invited. Please let me know of your interest ASAP. Send me an email, drop me a note, or run me down!"

(Note: This isn't the same as our Staff Christmas party, which will be Saturday, December 3.  More details to follow!)

News Flash: Piedmont Parking Lot to Close!
Starting Thursday, November 17,  they are repairing the concrete sidewalk on the Piedmont level between the parking lot and the building. We will close the parking lot during this work, which will take about two weeks.

Hard to believe that it's almost winter!  If you need to know how many days until Christmas, see Janice. She can tell you to the second.

In case you missed the Tuesday edition of the Bristol Herald Courier Anita made the front page! There's a link to the article here.  Great photo, Anita!

Publishers Weekly had an interesting article about how libraries continue to be important to the book industry even in the face of ebooks.  You can read the article here.  One really interesting figure is 50% of the people who buy books reported first reading a book by that author at the library.
