Health Series, 457 Plan, and Alma

Health Series: Summer Perils!
This month's program in the Health Series features Dr. Raymond Feierabend talking about some of the un-fun things about summer:  poison ivy, sunburn, insect bites, Lyme Disease, heat stroke, etc.  Anyone who spends time outdoors should join us to find out how to help make this summer a less dangerous  affair! The program is Thursday, July 10, starting at 6:30 pm in the J. Henry Kegley Meeting Room.

Happy Birthday!

457 Retirement Information
The Nationwide representative for the City's 457 Deferred Compensation Plan will be in town on Wednesday, July 23 and Thursday, July 24.  TImes and places are posted on the Employee Bulletin Board.  Please let Jeanne, Christy, or Brenda know if you are interested in attending.  If enough employees are planning to attend, we may see if she will come to the library itself.

Alma Blankenship
Alma Blankenship, the Avoca Branch manager for many years, passed away on July 3.  Alma had quite a following at Avoca!  Her warm and generous personality brightened any room.  Here is a link to her obituary:    Alma Blankenship

There was a lovely video tribute to Alma which included a number of photos of her at Avoca and at Main. There were some delightful ones taken at her retirement, with the Mayberry Deputy and the Memory Quilt Dana Harr created.  She will be missed.
